Since about 2007, I have snapped about 1000-5000 photos per year. When I was working on photo or video projects, that number would probably multiply by 10. In contrast, for this past year, I’ve only had my phone for photography, so I am much more selective….
if you want to be a writer, go and get a day job — or start a business, or a hustle, so you can eat and maybe afford a roof over your head….
maybe you can’t draw, write a rhyme or an original story, paint happy clouds, sculpt with marble, improvise a scene, strum a chord, paradiddle, glissando, memorize lines, belt out an aria, build a table, or a house, understand the rule of thirds, grip a dolly, know pan from tilt, edit in subframes, dither to 16-bit, sew up a new dress, take off an inch and layer it… but have you ever tried?
regardless, you’re still an artist.
there’s magic in those eyes, hands, and in between the ears.
