There are innumerable methods for achieving success and pursuing happiness in life — likely as many as there are philosophies and ideologies, values and belief systems. This is the beauty and complexity of the human experience; you can be who and what you want to be — you can at the very least try, and then choose something completely different. Even in the darkest of places, in the most chaotic of times, we are adaptable and capable of transcendence.

There’s an element of our psychology that connects through all that we do, an integral, organic essence that carries forward — zigzagging as a dramatic line chart, dotted at significant events across the years of a lifetime. The y-axis, naturally, indicates emotional impact.
Every lifetime has its ups and downs, peaks and valleys, flurries of activity and depressions or lulls — and ultimately, its end. The same can be said for a forest, a tribe, state or nation; a civilization, a religion, or a species.
I take in a lot of information from a lot of different sources, and I try to remain open to things that aren’t immediately interesting or exciting to learn or hear about or explore — such as contrasting perspectives that feel “off” or otherwise grind against my sensibilities, values, or beliefs.
Isn’t it strange that our laws and statutes are enacted to allegedly protect the majority from the vastly less significant minority — those of a criminal or distorted character and propensity — who would engage in or profit from exploiting an otherwise open system of commerce, education and governance?
