We can get so turned around in life that we fear losing shitty relationships, shitty jobs, and shitty habits. The small story can get so convoluted that we believe when someone says “that’s life,” they are in fact saying, “that’s all there is to life…” This is so far from the truth it hurts to proofread it.
I woke up with a heavy heart today. Hard to say why… but not really. Maybe something in the forgotten dream is lingering. Maybe it’s the last few weeks of the tumult and uncertainty of this personal transitional moment, or the never-ending string of such moments.
Living in a culture that is rife with trauma, we’re not too keen on experiencing more and different kinds of pain, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. Thus, we’re too often in the frame of mind that reaches for the broad, soaked paintbrush that allows us to dismiss someone or something based on what may only be a minor trait or concern—perhaps because we were triggered by something that isn’t supposed to bother us anymore.
There is an idea in the new thought era that speaks to the concept of following your heart. What we desire is perfect and unique to us, and this statement and idea is quite often misused and abused by the new-age-minded crowd.
