A Slower Pace

I went for an unscheduled 5+ hour walk/hike today. The car would have to stay overnight in the shop, so I decided to hoof it home. I got to know my island a little more. It was perfect weather for excessive ambulation.

A saw a few of these little lizard-like fellas, throwing caution to the wind and crossing the backcountry road. They probably fared better than the smattering of fuzzy caterpillars who dared the same feat.

On the last 4.5km stretch, a “road” named “School” offered some truly off-grid living spaces, featuring cows, pigs, geese, ducks, sheep, goats, dogs, chickens, and even small humans. After a long quiet wander, this wildly animated segment was hilarious.

It’s worth taking it slow in new places.
