Slowly

We’re busy. A lot of us are mad busy. A lot of us hide in busyness to pretend to be on purpose, or to avoid actually pursuing one. It doesn’t matter. This article is about slowing down. It came to mind and felt important to wax philosophical about the pace at which we live, and the presence we give to our experiences.

The Most Important Thing

What is it that won’t let you sleep at night? What is it that gnaws at the back of your mind? What is it that angers, frustrates or disheartens you?

none of that is the issue. that’s all noise, programs, the ideas of other people, the seeds of cultural norms and expectations… but none of it is your own voice.

The Best

There are many “best” moments that have come and gone. I try to harbor fewer regrets about anything as I get older. Holding any negativity or judgment toward anything, really, is only ever self-serving and muddies the lucidity of awareness and inspiration. It’s been far too easy to beat the shit out of myself, or to project my fears onto others.

Information

No book is complete. In fact, your imagination and belief structure are constantly filling in gaps and interpreting words and ideas, based on the perspective of one author (or council, agency, sect, special interest, or society) filtered and remade through your perception again.

On Hold

I’ve often made the mistake of letting the day to day worries and anxieties paralyze the process of creativity and preparation. And then ten years have passed.
