As artists, when we dawdle, we’re easily and quickly bored — or frustrated, and even defeated. The magic has a will, and it will want to drive us deeply into the journey, but we have to take hold of the reins and embrace uncertainty.

What do you want to be when you grow up? It’s a fairly common phrase in Western culture, aimed primarily at children, particularly in public education settings. I believe this notion is a disease of our time, a psychological sliver that distracts the mind and makes a slave of the spirit.
You can’t have it both ways. The mind will do its thing, and the heart will wait. They’re two distinct languages and are often at odds with each other.
It may not always make sense to our linear programming, but it always works to our benefit. There is no such thing as wasted time or energy; it is all in our perception. And you can’t fall behind in this life.
Your heart is an instantaneous feedback mechanism; it is a place of deep feeling, your locus of original source, that is always ready to say “not true” to oft-repeated ideas, precepts, and beliefs.
