The Big Picture

We often get caught in the trap of thinking our desires are about the “what” — the material, the tangible, the specific. But the truth is, what we really seek is far bigger than any single thing. It’s not about achieving a certain goal; it’s about aligning with the expansive, infinite potential that already exists within us.

Have the audacity to dream big and take the time to be bold. But here’s the thing: it’s not about material gains. Not in the grand scheme. We’ve been looking at things backward in so many ways, and it’s time for a shift.

What’s big? What’s bold? Love, happiness, excitement — those are big. The universe is big. Consciousness is big. It’s infinite and ubiquitous. Thought is big. Emotion is big.

Our days can be filled with trivialities or with the values and priorities of others imposed upon us. If we buy into the smaller aspects of life — dwelling in the “how-to” and clinging to every tiny accomplishment — we are at the mercy of small minds and limiting beliefs.

But when we prioritize what truly matters — based on our core values — we infuse our lives with energy that aligns with our heart’s deepest desires. This creates a flow that shifts everything in our everyday existence toward our aspirations.

Self-discipline becomes effortless. Organizing your time becomes exciting. Engaging with life becomes a habit. Even downtime is fulfilling, because instead of boredom or ennui, you’re dreaming of what’s to come.

We’ve been unconsciously addicted to the “what-is,” to the black-and-white, to control and struggle. In quiet desperation, we either work ourselves to the bone or binge on distractions.

We hide from each other out of shame and develop impatience and sensitivities — instead of lightness, gratitude, harmony, and untapped happiness.

So what? Start fresh. Start now. Once the chaos of fragmented ideals is whittled down, there are fewer than five core vales anyone truly wants in life. Here are some core, or perhaps universal values: authenticity, compassion, gratitude, growth, and integrity.

Values are big. Reconnect with yours. Lay a new foundation. There are many competent teachers and guides. Listen for the song that resonates with you, until you can sing your own.
