Something Feels Off

We spend so much of our lives chasing stimulation, absorbing other people’s narratives, and trying to keep up that we can lose touch with the quiet knowing beneath it all. The world is full of noise, but the deeper problem may be how readily we surrender our attention to it. Somewhere beyond the distraction lies a more authentic way of seeing, living, and relating to one another.

.   .   .

We paint the world every instant through our filters, beliefs, attitudes, and perspectives. Though the fluidity of this process often escapes our conscious awareness, an underlying order connects our thoughts, actions, and reactions.

If we could step outside the timeline without losing lucidity, the connections might become self-evident: outcomes are linked to their causes, and we are always dancing with causality.

The laws of this place afford us great freedom. With awareness, we can begin to see the normally invisible connections, the light filaments dancing across our consciousness. We can recognize how our intentions, tendencies, and energetic biases shape the thoughts, encounters, and experiences we draw into our lives.

Within apparent randomness lies a deeper relativity. What initially appears foreign or unwelcome may later prove exact and meaningful in the context of our preferences, purpose, and unfolding story, once we’re better prepared to comprehend it.

Everything has its reason, yet we rarely give ourselves the time or attention to meet life with presence, observation, artistry, and patience.

Our spirits and bodies are conditioned for productivity and mental enslavement. We constantly seek novelty, escape, and stimulation, or perhaps simulation, as though stillness might lead to self-destruction or unbearable ennui.

This has become a kind of weakness, undermining our pursuits, our character, our capacity for empathy, compassion, and service, and, most noticeably, our relationships. A pervasive uncertainty infects everything, obscuring the vibrant beauty that surrounds us and fills so much of our shared experience.

The manufactured realities and narratives of the “mainstream” and “established consensus” would have us believe otherwise. Let them go. Seriously. Shut it down. Turn it off.

We need a truer foundation, one from which we can reconnect with our souls, rekindle our inner fire, and re-engage with the enduring essence of who we are. We’ve deferred accountability and responsibility for long enough. No amount of judgment, projection, blaming, shaming, or gaming will heal our timeless, irreverent heart.

Something will always feel “off” until we begin to live from an authentic, vulnerable, empowered space.
