A Little Less Heaviness

We spend so much time trying to find our place in the world that we forget to make a little room for ourselves.

.   .   .

Reset and realign from time to time. Start with the heart and build outward from there.

Life can and will knock you around, but in my experience, we are most often the harshest with ourselves.

It’s the hallmark of a society addicted to seeking solace everywhere but within, quick to cover up who we are with costumes and masks, identities and idiosyncrasies, desperate to measure up to the glossy standards projected through magazines and movie screens.

Close your eyes. Breathe. Hear that? That soulful chime is singing inside you, gentle on an ethereal breeze, always holding a loving space for you. You’re going to be all right.

Our paths are uniquely our own, even though we may share stretches of the journey with fellow wanderers. Remember, they’re just as unsure of themselves as you are. They wonder about the same painful, ridiculous, embarrassing, and exciting things that occupy their weary, distracted, overworked minds.

Know, too, that they’ve endured their own nightmares, traumas, and torments, in this life or perhaps another.

Sometimes, your quiet presence is all it takes to initiate healing on both sides of a relationship.

In this present, mindful state, you heal the world. This is, in fact, the only way to do so.

Endeavor to connect intimately and authentically with your real self. Be curious about it all.

The lingering pests of harmful ideologies can poison the stream, but we can witness them, comprehend their influence, and let them go. When we do, the waters can run clear again, allowing the spiritual wound to heal.

Let’s be honest. Your generous heart could do with a little less heaviness and the freedom to simply be.

Memento vivere
