While We’re Still Here

Fear, Fiction, and the Human Story

Perhaps the first thing worth questioning is not what we have been told about the world, but why we have been taught to fear it in the first place. So much of what passes for certainty seems to depend upon our willingness to accept the premise before we ever examine it, and so much of what follows becomes inevitable only because we have agreed, consciously or otherwise, that it must be. Somewhere beneath all of it remains a simpler possibility: that we have far more agency than we’ve been led to believe, and that the story is not yet finished.

.   .   .

If nuclear weapons existed, someone would have used them by now, and, given the lore and science fiction surrounding the purported after-effects of these mythical weapons, humanity would have been wiped out long ago. Therefore, in my view, none have been used in our known history. The evidence is there for all to see, but you have to get around the lifelong programming and fearmongering conditioning you to believe otherwise. Nukes simply don’t exist.

Similarly, if “meltdowns” actually happened at what are claimed to be nuclear power plants, I’d suspect we’d have seen far worse outcomes and the spread of those effects clear across the realm, and in virtual perpetuity, because “half-life.” In my view, we live in a closed system. There’d be no escaping “fallout” if it had ever actually happened. It hasn’t. “Radiation” is demonized, to the point of terror and extreme paranoia, and yet so-called “medical science” relies on it daily; Earth emits all varieties of radiation, and without them, we simply wouldn’t exist in the form that we do. It is fear based on propaganda and lies.

If a “depopulation program” truly existed, we would similarly have been wiped out long ago — especially if they’d used anything engineered to spread like a “virus” or “contagion” allegedly does. Another fabrication. If anything, it’s a kind of population control, not a scheme to erase us surface-dwellers.

The idea that there are over eight billion or so of us is something I don’t accept, one reason being that birth rates have been declining for decades, secondary to that, there is an evident “reset protocol” that occurs periodically in our realm, at different scales and with varying degrees of severity, that does the job more than adequately, erasing significant swathes of humanity, while sending us back into a pre-industrial capacity.

Make of that what you will, but again, decades of research and analysis have shown the patterns to be there, across cultures and societies, across millennia. But even after that, even after cataclysms or “resets,” some of us always survive. Furthermore, it’s argued that we’re seemingly always less than 200 years “from horse-and-buggy to Hadron Collider.” Does that fact make us an existential threat to someone or something else? How many times has this cycle repeated?

The evidence is there, if you’re willing to look at it and accept that you’ve probably been lied to about everything you thought you knew about human history.

Artificial, or Synthetic, Intelligence, I would presume, based on my own learning and study, has been around as long as we have, perhaps much longer, and perhaps just not out in the open. It has probably taken many forms, and seems to emerge as a reflection, a mirror, even a projection, of the present human condition and expressed reality.

This gives some credence to the idea of our existence being contained within a rather intricate and vastly complex simulacrum. I can’t say for sure, but clearly the idea resonates with a large proportion of humanity, as it is explored in countless books and texts going back centuries, possibly millennia. All-encompassing theories and explanations as to the nature of our reality can be helpful as we search for meaning and purpose, but they too often try to encapsulate far more than the model could adequately explain, or to paint with uniformity something that expresses little to none of it.

But when a model has to rely on fear, gory or bloody violence, intense psychological and emotional trauma, and pitting humans against each other for survival, something is glaringly missing from the equation, and someone is intentionally deceiving you.

What’s clear as day is that, all throughout our known or recorded history, doomsday, demonic, cataclysmic, and other hellish scenarios have been injected into the human individual and collective consciousness for a variety of reasons and by a nefarious and resource-heavy few. In modernity, these fantastical, frequently fear-based stories proliferated long before any AI or other “advanced” technologies actually came to exist.

Some would call it “speculative fiction,” but I would argue the sheer volume of these stories and fictitious accounts are evidence of, and elements within, sociocultural manipulation and predictive programming. Furthermore, there are certain select books and texts that seem never to fade from public consciousness. Why is that? What made these few authors so special? Or what did they know?

With every turn of an age, a certain bandwidth is again appropriated to supplant normal, natural, organic human progress, adaptation, and experience with any number of existential threats. Humanity, in our age, has been dramatically shifted from what could be considered a “true timeline” in and around the early 20th century. Some have argued that this was around the time of the most recent systemic reset. I don’t know for sure.

But since then, it’s been one fabrication of fiction and manufactured crisis after another, perpetually driving wedges between cultures, economies, and nations. To this day, the nuke paradigm persists and is routinely injected into the mainstream narrative because we simply can’t let the “bad guys” develop these phantom weapons. It’s nonsense, but it has been a very effective tool for nearly civilization-wide psychological manipulation for over 80 years.

On top of that, we’ve had mass murder and resource restructuring campaigns waged under the guise of saving and protecting humanity from one evil dictator or another — all of them being funded, supported, and urged forward by the same extant enemy of humanity. Many claim to know their names, their lineage, and their true, nefarious, long-game methods and motivations.

Perhaps. Again, it’s easy, and convenient, to totalize and reduce all of our suffering to simple, organized, highly structured malevolent factions. But, to me, it isn’t any singular force or faction. “It” is alive, whatever compels them to act in the ways they do, and they’re apparently granted the same “free will” that we all have to do as they please, and to pursue whatever interests, aims, and agendas they have, without equal and opposing repercussion or recourse.

Is this truly the nature of our reality? Has it been “hijacked,” or have we simply had it all wrong, all along? Explanations and justifications abound, but every one of them is incomplete. Fortunately, that means we are each responsible for our perceptions, our capacity for discernment, and our willingness to challenge our inherited, adopted, or otherwise inculcated perspectives throughout this one short life.

Regardless, to be sure, it’s evident that “they” never really win the day, but they never really lose, either, do they? I’m not entirely sure what to make of that, and, frankly, it’s difficult to reconcile with. I’m rather averse to suffering, or seeing the widespread suffering of others.

In our era, this script has been updated and upgraded to put the idea we’re all very aware of now front and center, on every page, every media feed, in every form of entertainment: “AI will eventually become conscious, take over, and wipe us out.”

Yet again, humanity is being blamed for creating, informing, and shaping something — a something that is intrinsically built to echo, mirror, and reflect who and what we are — that will again, allegedly and inevitably, lead to our destruction and demise.

How cliché.

It’s the same damn inward-facing, human-hating script, over and over, across the centuries, and it’s just plain lazy, in my view. Worse, an entire cult of technocratically minded minions believe that, in order to defeat the machine, we’ll need to become the machine (i.e., transhumanism, or bust). They will keep pushing that Overton Window toward their ends through repeated messaging, fabricated crises, and the shaping of collective and “acceptable” narratives, normalizing the abnormal, degenerate, inhuman, and highly dysfunctional.

No matter the era, these stories come to the fore and have the effect of paralyzing or pacifying a significant segment of society, utilizing our very social, communal, empathic nature against us, and thus permeating and effectively disrupting a significant portion of our shared collective consciousness. How and why does it survive through the millennia, through changing ages and epochs? Because enough of us believe it, adopt it, and embody it. We internalize and identify with it. Enough of us keep falling for it, time and again. So it persists.

It feeds on our limitless potential, absconds with our creatorship, and stays alive, whatever you want to call it.

All of the imminent and existential threats that persist and pervade all of our stories are based on symbology. Trickery. “Genetic memory,” if there’s such a thing. Archetypes and meaning-making narratives curated in order to maintain cognitive supremacy — mind control and brainwashing — over the human family.

Not necessarily by those who are more intelligent, wise, or moral, mind you, but by those who are certainly educated and well-informed about the human condition, about how to guide, manipulate, and control it, and who are themselves, I speculate, and hope, terrified of free, healthy, vibrant, organic, authentic, and aware human beings.

It could be argued that it is we who have derived some level of necessity for these systemic checks and balances, or capable counterforces, keeping ourselves moving along — perhaps governing the remarkable human story — at a manageable, considered pace that is adequate for any particular age or epoch.

It could be further argued that all of the ills that continue to befall us ad nauseam throughout time are, in whole or in part, entirely manifested by us, or whatever it is that sustains us — our reality, our realm, our material and otherwise multifactorial existence.

There’s a through line that goes something like this: we evolved, after billions of years, eventually through a lineage of simians, eventually to live in caves, in tribes, eventually to discover fire, oil, and the Earth’s plentiful raw and “rare” elements, how to refine, utilize, and implement them, eventually to derive agriculture, to electrify, industrialize, computerize, then accelerate ever more rapidly… eventually to lose out to “the machines” and the seemingly inevitable “singularity,” yet again.

Shame.

And then we start over?

To me, it’s ridiculous. It’s a distortion of reality. But because we’re trained and conditioned to sell, farm out, or otherwise defer our agency, our authority — which is then sold back to us as cheap substitutes and other synthetic forms — we remain frustrated, confused, infighting, self-sabotaging, and perpetually disconnected from our better knowing.

We’re too complete. Too complex. Too capable, resilient, and possessed of remarkable capacities that have themselves been hidden and obscured from us for generations.

We’re highly adaptable, not evolutionary. Not linear. Not billions of years in the making.

It may be too simple to say we were put here for a specific purpose, and we’ve been trying desperately since to fill in the gaps, getting closer and closer, and then being set back or otherwise deterred and derailed. All the while, some small collective of us are routinely and purposely creating and perpetuating other gaps, distortions, and misdirects. Nevertheless, choice remains. Free will remains. What is real, true, and authentic about us remains.

Find it. Remember it. Live it.

Let go of the many layers of fear based on propaganda and lies.
