We say we want love, freedom, and connection, then keep attaching conditions to the very things we long to experience.
. . .
There’s a lot of noise out there keeping us worried and anxious, acting and reacting out of fear… even though what we want is love.
We’re conditioned to attach conditions. We’re trained to grade, rate, compare, and judge. Standards, boundaries, and preferences have their place, but the conditioning runs deeper, often beyond our awareness.
The psychology of lack and our avoidance of suffering impose restrictions we may not even recognize. We start painting the world in broad generalities rather than meeting it with truth, nuance, and intimacy.
Failures, betrayals, traumas, and injuries can shift our confidence and consciousness, often casting a negative tint over the way we see the world.
Cynicism is rampant. Extremism is no longer a last resort for many who feel perpetually backed into a corner. We can feel so threatened and unsafe, often without fully realizing it, that creating even more strife and stress in an effort to escape can seem like a viable, even necessary, option.
Life is not conditional. Life knows every way. Life is energy and flow. Life is open and free. Life is beyond payments and bills and gas prices.
We mustn’t let the insane, manipulative few determine the breadth of our experience simply because we’ve adopted dysfunctional programs and ideologies of our own.
We cannot profess our love for another while attaching addenda, clauses, prenups, terms and… conditions. It might not work out. So what?
Life itself is a given; our time here is not. You’re here. You woke up today. You have ideas. You have aspirations. You have a clean slate.
You have to dare greatly, or the conditions will own you.
